Ready to Learn · Ages 4–18

Feel ready to learn.
Build from there.

Targeted learning support that helps children and young people rebuild confidence, strengthen learning habits and make meaningful progress — at a pace that works for them.

Learning without the label

Sometimes the first thing to rebuild is belief.

Ready to Learn is for children and young people who would benefit from extra support to engage with learning, strengthen core skills and feel more confident about making progress.

It is not about defining a young person by a grade. We start with what is getting in the way, what already works and what support can make learning feel more manageable.

Could this help?

Ready to Learn could be right if…

Support can look different for every child. These are some of the situations the programme is designed to respond to.

01

“I’ve lost confidence.”

Rebuild self-belief after setbacks, disrupted learning or a period of feeling behind.

02

“Getting started feels hard.”

Create routines, structure and manageable steps that make learning easier to approach.

03

“I need help with the basics.”

Strengthen important knowledge and skills so new learning has a firmer foundation.

04

“I want to make progress.”

Set clear, realistic goals and recognise progress as confidence and capability grow.

The Ready to Learn pathway

Reconnect. Build. Practise. Progress.

The programme adapts to age and need, but the approach stays consistent: help the young person feel safe enough to engage, understand the gaps, build useful strategies and recognise their own progress.

01

Reconnect

Build trust, understand barriers and establish what helps the young person engage with learning.

What support can include

Practical support that connects confidence with learning.

  • Targeted support in core learning areas
  • Study, organisation and independent-learning habits
  • Confidence-building around schoolwork and assessment
  • Learning materials and resources where appropriate
  • Clear goals and review points so progress is visible
  • Communication with families, schools or referrers where agreed

Our approach

Support the learner, not just the lesson.

Ready to Learn sits within our Learn & Progress focus area and reflects the Foundation's charitable purpose of advancing education for young people facing social or economic barriers.

Responsive

Support begins with the young person’s starting point rather than a one-size-fits-all programme.

Encouraging

We aim to make progress feel possible, visible and worth continuing.

Connected

Learning support links to confidence, goals and the wider circumstances affecting engagement.
